Highlights of interview with Kenneth Fok

On Chinese-style democracy
China's system has led us to where we are today, the second-largest economy in the world, lifting millions of people out of poverty in the shortest period of time, with our technological advances, both on land and sea, and in space. This is all due to the Chinese people's will and its belief in our system. This is the system that works for China.
It's up to us to control or to lead our own faith, not Western media, not Western politicians. What we have to do is really believe in ourselves and not be swayed by other opinions or other measurements or other ideals.
On "one country, two systems"
This year marks a very important year for Hong Kong as the 25th year of return to the motherland since 1997. We're halfway through the so-called 50 years of stability. I've constantly heard Western media complaining or criticizing Hong Kong's system, that it's regressing and the "one country, two systems" is not stable. But I would 100 percent disagree with all the above views.
"One country, two systems" has given us the competitive advantage that makes Hong Kong great. We have to be strong in our beliefs and our views that we are going down the right path. It's important also for us to think how we can improve on the "one country, two systems" so that we keep the stability for the next 25 years.
