BEIJING -- Facial recognition technology will be integrated within the year at the gates of Miyun Reservoir, Beijing's largest, and a major drinking water source.
Over 300 cameras will be installed around the reservoir to realize around-the-clock monitoring, according to the law enforcement unit of the reservoir Wednesday.
The monitoring equipment will be able to recognize faces and license plates. With the assistance of drones and unmanned boats, illegal acts will be spotted more quickly and accurately.
The reservoir has a total storage capacity of 4.375 billion cubic meters.
