Repair work of the battered campus of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University began on Thursday and is expected to take several months before it can be reopened for partial operation, said Lam Tai-fai, chairman of the PolyU Council.
On the same day, teams of police and firefighters entered the campus to dispose of dangerous weapons and materials left behind by radical protesters and rioters who occupied the premises for more than 10 days, causing extensive damages to the university facilities.
