On Nov 17, rioters blocked the roads near the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and hurled patrol bombs on the roads, posing a serious threat to public security. The rioters even used bows, bricks and arrows to indiscriminately attack police and journalists. A policeman was shot in the leg with an arrow.
