Jeanette Kong, a Chinese-Jamaican director, also brought her production Half: The Story of a Chinese-Jamaican Son to focus on identity issue. In the film, the half-Chinese protagonist Vincent Lee leaves his native Jamaica to visit a village in China, looking for his cultural roots. Chinese immigrants to Jamaica in the late 19th century and the early 20th century were largely men from southern China, known as Hakka. And they often entered into relationships with Jamaican women as did Lee's father.

The film Classical Steel was about a local music genre in Trinidad and Tobago. And Liquid Gold, was a story about the rum industry in Barbados.
