Starting May 1, China will levy no tariffs on imports of anti-cancer medicines, the State Council said on Thursday.

The State Council released this news at its executive meeting on April 12, chaired by Premier Li Keqiang.

The meeting decided to develop the Internet plus Medical and Healthcare strategy to let Chinese citizens get better access to medical treatments and improve their health.

Premier Li Keqiang visited Shanghai Roche Pharmaceuticals, which focuses on anti-cancer medicines, on Tuesday. He said: "We welcome foreign companies to invest in China and will further open up. Opening-up is a policy that boosts national development and benefits the people."
