More than 400 government officials, experts and industry leaders in digital transformation and high technology sectors from home and abroad gathered in Shanghai on Tuesday for the Global City Informatization Forum 2017.
During the forum, officials and experts shared different perspectives on a series of issues regarding the development of informatization around the world and the construction of smart cities and communities.
"There has been a new revolution in information technology in cities around the world and they must seize the opportunity to push forward the application of digital and Internet technologies in urban governance, industrial development and upgrading public service," said Ren Zhiwu, director of the department of high-tech industry under the National Development and Reform Commission.
"That will further elevate the attractiveness and competitiveness of cities and ensure their sustainable development," he added.
