A delegation of International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission led by chairman Hein Verbruggen ended its working visit to Hong Kong on Tuesday, with satisfaction over the overall progress in preparing for the equestrian events of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

According to Verbruggen, concerned departments and public organizations of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) have made joint efforts and ensured the progress in the preparatory work. He pledged his commission's continuing guidance and support for Beijing and co-host cities to make the 2008 Games successful.

During their two-day stay in Hong Kong, Verbruggen and his party called on HKSAR leading officials and held working sessions with the Olympic Equestrian Sub-committee and Hong Kong Jockey Club on topics relating to venue design and construction, security measures, accommodation, quarantine and transportation.

The IOC officials spoke highly of specialized arrangements made by HKSAR authorities for quarantine and veterinary services.

The equestrian events of the 29th Olympic Games will be held at two venues in Hong Kong.
